I was born in 1967 in Chile. When I was 3 years old my family emigrated to Switzerland, my mother’s homeland. I spent most of my youth in Spain and in Chile. In 1986 I returned to Switzerland. After the military service I spent some time in the french part of Switzerland as well as in England to learn French and English.

Presently I’m living in Switzerland.

The potential of visual design as a means of expression has fascinated me since childhood. Both the arts of photography as well as painting have been channels of expression for me from an early age and still are today. They are the tools I use to express my inner world and what I experience in my daily life.

In 1998 I began to experiment with different materials, such as wire, soil, putty, oil as well as acrylic paint and photography.

Several journeys in different continents of this world have influenced me sustainably in my creative work. I have always been keen on dealing with all kinds of foreign cultures and their people. I integrate and transfer those experiences into my paintings.

The laws of physics and questions around the metaphhysical world are also topics I tackle in my art.

The challenge I face in my works is to unify the existing world, including the microcosm as well as the macrocosm; both, what we see and what is not visible to the naked eye. This produces mixed forms that resemble photographs of multiple exposure or photomontage.

On the one hand there are explicit and familiar representations. They are obvious to the viewer. On the other hand many things stay hidden between the lines and it is up to the viewer to interpret them. I’m particularly interested in the „in between“, the intangible. In my paintings this is often represented as a connecting veil of colours and lines.

It is the search of a balance of apparently opposite elements, the physical and the spiritual ones, that I percieve as the driving force.
